Casulo - An Entire Apartment’s Furniture in One Small Box

Share

It might not look like it, but inside this box, there’s an armoire, a desk, a height-adjustable stool, two more stools, a six-shelf bookcase, and a bed with a mattress.

Casulo, the brilliant, modular setup designed by Marcel Krings & Sebastian Mühlhäuser, hides furnishings enough for an entire room — or, heck, an entire apartment — in a small 31″x47″ (that’s 80 cm x 120 cm) box. Two people can lift, carry, and assemble (and then disassemble, when it’s time to move) each piece of furniture within the Casulo in about 10 minutes — it requires no tools for assembly — and every part of the boxy exterior is used, negating any need for extraneous, wasteful packaging. Smart.

Casulo won the “Abraham & David Roentgen Award” in November 2007 for its “cleverness, finesse and qualitative realisation of the idea” and we think it’s quite well-deserved; what a perfect solution for frequent movers and small space dwellers alike. More pics, plus a video, of the unboxing process

A fighter jet and a motorcycle made sweet love, birthed $82,350

How many bucks would you spend to watch a Jet and a bike make love? Not very many I guess, but you must be curious to see the result of this rather unfortunate procreation. Meet MonoTracer! The futuristic looking vehicle is actually a real-life working model and is being built and sold by Peraves.

Basically, MonoTracer is an advanced version of the normal bikes. A cabin mounted on a bike and the drag gets minimized to a great extent, making MonoTracer highly effective at achieving high speeds and greater levels of safety. The vehicle flies at a top speed of 250 kmph and can go from zero to hundred in 5.7 seconds. So time for the distressing factor now: the price. You must doll out $82,350 for a MonoTracer. But hey, the coolness associated with this one makes the buying decision a no-brainer.

Transparent Crystal phone Concept

Share
Here is something new that we haven’t seen before, a concept phone which is completely transparent and see through.

This concept phone by BloodRabbit which he thought of while driving home from work.
This mobile phone comes in a see-through body and a basic LCD display, sharing the same dimensions as a credit card.

Although you’re probably scratching your head and wondering how the electronics and other stuff like a battery and camera fits in.
we have to go by the assumption that technology in the future will be able to compress electronics to such a size.

Aptera’s Super-MPG Electric Typ-1 e

Share

The Aptera Super-MPG Electric Typ-1 is quite a cool little number with its ability to achieve 300 miles to the gallon.

That’s right, you heard me, 300 miles to the gallon. It must have something to do with its 3 wheels or something. There are two innovative models that are already pretty much production ready, and could be open as early as next year!

The Super-MPG Electric Typ-1 e has been field tested and is all electric. As for the Typ-1 h, that should be out by 2009. There is even a third model already in the works, with a four-wheeled design.

It looks like some car of the future like some sci-fi movie of the past. You know, like that one in AI, if you even bothered to see that movie.

Okay, let’s see if the oil companies crack down on this guy due to its electric ness. I’m not certain this car is as green as it looks, as it appears to be only made for two passengers. We could use a family-sized one.

Now, the estimated price on the first model is about $30,000. Let’s see how it does.
